Hi everyone!
I’ve recently been diving into the world of natural planted tanks and came across the Walstad Method. It sounds fascinating – a low-tech, low-maintenance approach that relies on a balanced ecosystem with soil as the substrate and minimal equipment.
I’m really intrigued by the idea of letting nature do its thing, but before I take the plunge, I’d love to hear from those of you who have tried it.
Here are some questions to get the discussion started:
- How did you set up your Walstad tank?
- What plants and fish worked best for you?
- How long did it take to stabilize the ecosystem?
- Any challenges or surprises along the way?
- Do you think it’s suitable for beginners?
- Feel free to share pictures of your tanks too – I’d love to see how they’ve turned out! 🌿🐟
Looking forward to learning from your experiences and tips. Let’s grow this thread into a hub of Walstad wisdom!
What do you think, Matthijs? Would you like me to adjust anything?
